For guitarists of all levels. Improve your soloing; straightforward ways to improve your playing and how to improve your understanding of chords, scales and modes and to use them in ways that will help you and which can be applied to any style of music.
12.45â??2.45pm: Music photography with John Watson
Music photographer John Watson leads a workshop for the second year running. The emphasis will be on creating dynamic images and developing an imaginative approach to photography. For both beginners and experienced photographers. Professional-level equipment is not essential, but you must have a camera which can be set to at least 1600 ISO, and you should know how to increase or decrease exposure levels. Includes a chance to photograph a band.

Charlie Wood is a singer/songwriter and keyboardist whose eclectic musical style incorporates elements of jazz, blues, traditional R&B and popular music. Wood is an accomplished and prolific singer/songwriter and has received stellar reviews for his original music.
Chris Allard has performed at many prestigious venues and festivals and he has performed/recorded with numerous big names. His last album received critical acclaim including four stars in Guitarist Magazine.

Derek Nash, leading UK saxophonist, leader of the award-winning SAX APPEAL, co-leader of funk/groove band PROTECT THE BEAT and featured member of the JOOLS HOLLAND RHYTHM & BLUES ORCHESTRA comes to St Peter's with his quartet in August 2018.
He is renowned for his energetic, vibrant, passionate and charismatic performances on all four saxophones - from sonorous baritone to soaring soprano - and is an award-winning performer having received the John Dankworth Award and the British Jazz Award (Small Group) for Sax Appeal. He received Best Jazz CD of the Year for Young Lions, Old Tigers with the late Spike Robinson, receiving the same British Jazz Award for "Joyriding" by The Derek Nash Acoustic Quartet in 2012. He regularly appears in the British Jazz awards nominations in several categories (Alto/Tenor and Baritone) and was nominated for Jazz Musician of the Year by the Global Music Foundation.

To help celebrate our 10th anniversary we're very pleased to welcome back Funky Voices to St Peter's in 2018.
Showcasing their recognised 'wall of sound', Funky Voices will be taking to the stage at St Peters by the Waterfront to raise money to go towards more fantastic events within Music and Arts at St Peters. Performing their versions of songs by artists known and loved such as Stevie Wonder, Spandau Ballet, Jessie J and many more, the choir promise you a night of uplifting, energetic and inspirational music for the whole family.
St Peter's is a community arts and heritage centre providing space for local organisations to hold activities, rehearsals, music and theatre productions and put on many events with local, national and international acts. The centre receives no funding and relies entirely on bookings, ticket sales and the generous support of the local community through donations.

Weird Rare Animal play a selection of tunes from Charlie Parker, George Benson, Bach, all jazzed up and with a modern easy-listening approach. They also play the guitarist Tomi's original compositions. A vibrant and exciting sound of guitar, keyboard and drums, having Tomi Farkas, Anne Burton and Jake Hatter respectively playing these instruments. You could have heard Tomi also with Jazz Bazaar, Morphology and the Horn Factory and Anne with Jazz Arrivals and Body and Soul Jazz Band all of whom have performed at St Peter's Jazz by the Waterfront evenings.
