I have been to this pub a few times and it is very poor. The service is rubish and the food is either cold or frozen....

I went to fowlers farm for a meal because i had heard good reviews from my friends. so i had a meal and not impressed. i had the fishcakes for starters and they were still frozen in the middle.. yes frozen, when i asked the waitress she actually told me that everything on the menu comes in frozen, dont eat at places like this go to a nice cosy little pub where they use fresh produce from local suppliers.

I visited fowlers farm tonight 23/2/08,dosnt seem to be any better at fowlers farm, I had a dover sole, the menu speciality at £14.95 approx, the sole came and as I was cutting through my fish, to my horror, there was blood and giblets in the top of the fish, I thought it was stuffed with cranberries, having called the waitress, she neither new what it was, so the manager then came out, and asked me if I wanted another meal, I refused, having then recieved a bill for three of us minus my meal, it was £37.00, however I complained even more as there was no appology, other than this happens sometimes, does it? well I will not be going back, also my Husbands steak was quite raw, having asked for medium to well, anyway this is not to do with money, but I recieved a further £10 discount, only because I complained, but they are very lapse in their customer service, and made me feel it was my fault the fish was not cleaned properly. Yuk I felt sick all night.

I'm from N'Ireland and visit my mum in Braintree a few times a year and during my stay always choose Fowlers Farm,I even took my mum there for her 75th birthday...although the service on food is a bit slow it has been worth waiting for but its also nice to relax and enjoy a drink while waiting and I have found the staff very helpfull & pleasant...Cathy.

Visited in 5th August 2007.
Very nice food (menu a little restricted), good overall service and very reasonable priced.
My only concern is the time we waited for our food to be served. Not so much the main course but desert took longer than the main course!!
So much better now the smoking ban has come in - you can actually see to the other end of the pub!!!!
